TC Synth Tutorial

The TC Interactive Synth Tutorial is a fully interactive audio/visual, hands-on tutorial designed to clearly teach the basics of sound synthesis. It features a colourful Graphical User Interface (GUI), smooth synth tones and is written in an easy to understand style. It is designed for sole use, but can also be used in the classroom either at school, college or university level.
This software was developed using MaxMSP5 as a part of my Masters in Music at Leeds University. It has since been updated and versions have been developed for mac OSX and PC win XP (which also works on Vista and Win7). The source files (patchers, images, text files and audio) are also available.
The most recent version of the software is TCSynthTut103, and is free to use and distribute under the GNU free software licence. The download links are shown below:
Download mac OSX version 103 (16MB)
To run, unzip the downloaded folder and double click on TCSynthTut102osx.app (not the .mxf file)
To install, unzip the downloaded folder and drag and drop the file TCSynthTut102.app into the apps folder, then double click to run.
Download win XP version 103 (6.3MB)
To run, unzip the downloaded folder and double click on TCSynthTut102xp folder, then double click on TCSynthTut102xp.exe (not the .mxf file).
There is no installation wizard for the XP version. To run regularly, copy the TCSynthTut102xp folder onto desktop, or wherever you prefer, and run by double clicking TCSynthTut102xp.exe.

This folder contains the patchers and images, text files and audio necessary to create, manipulate and study the program as you wish. The information.txt file explains where to put the folders and TCSynthTutTechEssay.pdf documents how the program was created.

Please note that this software is distributed under the GNU free software licence. This is a copyleft licence allowing anyone to use, distribute and alter it in any way that is not commercial. (Basically, do what you want with it except sell it!)
